 Lauren Erica-Ashli

Lauren Erica-Ashli

Producer

In a world full of creators, curators, visionaries, and storytellers, you will find a young
woman who is passionate about connecting her generation through narratives. Inspired by
the obvious lack of relatable black storylines shown on television, producer Lauren Ashli,
found herself being drawn to the idea of creating projects that reflect the lives of
African-Americans and minorities.

It wasn’t until late 2017 when she decided to switch her media focus from in front of the
camera, to behind the scenes focusing on producing, directing, and screenwriting.
Inspired by producers such as Mara Brock Akil, and directors like Melina Matsoukas,
Lauren hopes to become another name whom people will recognize for the transparency,
and realism in her projects.

After gaining experience training with companies such as the WEEN Academy, and working
for companies such as Rolling Out Magazine, Turner Broadcasting System, CBS Radio,
Fox News, Joyful Noise Music Group, BET, and so many others, Lauren is thankful for the
skills she learned on-air, but is now ready to take on this new journey as a producer. “I’m
very appreciative that I was able to work on-air as a multimedia journalist, but I believe that
God used that time of my life to show me that the gifts I was given aren’t for me. I have to
use my gifts of storytelling, and writing to inspire and change the lives of others by telling
their stories.”

Since shifting her career focus, Lauren has worked in production for 79th & York
Entertainment, 501 East Entertainment, BET, and 20th Century Fox. She is currently
producing her first web series titled The BWBM (Black Woman Black Man.) Series.
